Project Background
Our Club had very humble beginnings in 1897 and has stood the test of time achieving great success on and off the field. Our recent county final successes of 1986, 2006 and 2010 has capitulated the club into new heightsin Cork hurling and beyond, with the added glory of winning the All-IrelandIntermediate Club Championship in 2011. This relatively recent success follows in the great footsteps laid down by our founding members.
THE SUCCESS THE CLUB HAS HAD IN RECENT YEARS ON THE FIELD HAS BEEN SUPPORTED BY UNERRING CLUB SUPPORT TO DRIVE VARIOUS DEVELOPMENTS IN THE LAST 25 YEARS IN OUR FACILITIES AND GROUNDS.
It is fair to say that this club has never rested on its laurels and is always striving for improvements, the above shows the achievements only in the past 26 years.
We are asking you our club members and supporters, to help us on this journey again, as we move forward to ensure top class facilities for players of today and tomorrow. We appreciate there is significant demand on people’s finances in the current economic environment, however when you have been asked before your support has always been to the fore.
As we take this path, we should take huge confidence from those that have gone before us, as any fundraising goals that were set, were always achieved, giving us the facilities, we enjoy today. We must now do the same for the generations who will come after us. This facility will be available all year round to the benefit of our underage clubs Sliabh Rua, Sliabh Rua Camoige as well as the other sporting clubs in the Clontead Community.
When complete, we truly will have one of the best sporting complexes in Cork if not in all Ireland.
